Summary Description
The Director of Content Strategy is a new position within the communications unit that will create a strategic direction for content development, distribution and dissemination that will enable the work of the institution to reach decision makers, industry leaders, advocates, the media, donors and the general public. The Director of Content Strategy supervises the work of the Web Manager, Editorial/Writing team, and Art/Design team, in addition to engaging with staff from all areas of Ford including the Executive Office, and the Program and Operations units. The Director of Content will work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Communications.
The Director of Content Strategy will develop a bold and broad content strategy for the institution that includes use of the Web, print, audio/video and multimedia means to communicate Ford’s values and showcase its work. Proven ability to integrate online and offline communications, strategic thinking, creativity, and outstanding writing are required.
Qualifications
o Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred. 15+ years of editorial experience. Newspaper, magazine and/or broadcasting experience a plus.
o Excellent editorial skills with a passion for quality writing. Expressive vocabulary, ear for language and flair for storytelling.
o Experience in Web, multimedia and related formats. Understanding of online audience needs and the appropriate packaging of materials for online distribution.
o Flexible, creative, and consistent work style; strong sense of accountability for all areas of work; demonstrated collaborative spirit and leadership ability.
o Ability to think strategically, multi-task, be extremely well-organized, manage time effectively and identify resources for projects.
o Ability to understand complex organizational structure and work through administrative systems.
o Ability to work in both groups and individually to meet short-term and long-term goals and objectives.
