Native American History as Told by Native Voices: A Unique Series Premieres on PBS

On April 13, the PBS series American Experience will premiere We Shall Remain, a ground-breaking five-part film that explores 300 years of Native history—and gives voice to a unique perspective on our broader American heritage.

We Shall Remain will air on public television stations across the country. The broadcast will be complemented by a national community outreach campaign online and by a wide range of public events at the local level. The Ford Foundation provided $650,000 for the development of the series and its outreach efforts.

Since the early 1970s, Ford has supported many social change documentaries including the landmark series Eyes on the Prize, which examined the civil rights movement, and The Global Assembly Line, which looked at the impact of globalization on women in the workplace. We remain deeply committed to promoting new forms of expression and meaningful storytelling, and we continue to explore how media can best serve the public interest.
